This meet-up is dedicated to gardening, gardeners and plants. It hopes to link interested gardeners to Denver Botanic Garden resources like the Helen Fowler Library, the living collections and the very knowledgable staff.

I think the genesis for this group started in January, when I saw an article in the paper about "garden mentoring." The idea is that because we're more removed from growing plants and less likely to spend time outside, we have a harder tme connecting to fellow gardeners. So garden mentors, garden coaches, and garden tutors have sprung up to fill the need, charging anywhere from $35 an hour to over $125. As soon as I read that, I thought "Oh, come on. Can't we do better than that?"

And I bet we can. Gardeners are some of the nicest, sharing-est people on earth: why not learn from one another? I'm too new to Colorado to put myself in the teaching or mentoring category, but I'm confident that a mix of different people will give the Meet-up the dynamic it needs.
